HR Highlights – Annual Leave

Thank you to Elstan HR for their contribution to our newswire. This time the focus os on annual leave.

The summer holidays are often a period where employees have enjoyed events that have been in the planning for a very long time so returning to work is a transition and should be a consideration as we move towards the 4th Quarter of the year!  It’s important to keep your teams reactive, fresh and engaged.

We all miss our employees when they are on leave in both a professional and personal basis so it’s important to acknowledge when they return just how much they have been missed and are valued and ensuring they have some space to catch up and reacclimatise.

Work / Life Balance

It’s always useful to be aware of what annual leave your teams have left available and that the leave is spread across the year so everyone is continually well rested. This also supports your business commercially in ensuring that a month before the close of the year you don’t have 80% of a workforce needing 2 weeks off with major projects then being affected to stay compliant.

Incorporating visibility of annual leave into one to one meetings will bring clarity on reasonable timeframes against achieving goals and deadlines and set expectations for both parties, leaving no surprises on planned deliverables.

Teamwork

This could be a good time to organise a group offsite or an event that will bring your people together to reignite the passion for their roles and motivate the team to make the end of the year the most successful which will also contribute to the start of the next one!
