Each Christmas McPhersons support a local charity that supports the homeless and this year Warming up the Homeless has been chosen. The charity helps people around Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne without a home with meals, hot drinks, clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, survival sheets, toiletries – in fact anything that makes their life a bit easier. According to Trudy Hampton, Chair of Warming up the Homeless, the funds will;
“Help pay for the Christmas meal for 300 people during Christmas week. These are men, women and children. It will also go towards our new project, Street Knits. Our team of knitters knit gloves, hats and scarves for our homeless friends. Each item will have a Street Knits label sewn into it to act as a form of identification if anything untoward happens to our homeless friends. Emergency services will know they are known to us and we can offer help and assistance.”
Says Ainsley Gill, McPhersons director;
“Traditional Christmas cards are a thing of the past for us. Instead, for the past few years, we have supported local charities, especially focused on the homeless, providing somewhere warm, hot meals and some comfort over Christmas. Warming up the Homeless do a fantastic job and rely on donations to support the homeless throughout the year.”
